Instilled With Wanderlust
Whether it was on a catamaran in the Virgin Islands or a quick weekend trip to our family's beach house in Florida, my parents were always taking my brother, sister, and I to new and exciting places. Because of this, my sense for adventure has been engrained into my personality since a very young age and as I grow older and wiser (I'm already less than a month away from 23!!!) that sense has strengthened and yearns for more stimulation. The first real taste for adventure in my adulthood came during the summer of 2008 when my brother and I traveled to Israel and the North Eastern part of Egypt. We spent over a month and a half in a country and culture completely foreign to us and I loved just about every second of it. Being exposed to these new cultures and immersing ouselves in it really opened our eyes and made us want to appreciate the cultures of the world that much more. So for our next dose of adventure and cultural stimulation my brother, named Chase, and I packed our surfboards and headed to Costa Rica for two weeks in the winter of 2008. Arriving in Costa Rica. we landed in the mountains of San Jose and found ourselves hunting down a taxi driver willing to throw the boards on his car in search of the earliest bus towards the coast. We ended up in a "shady" part of town at the Coca-Cola train station in downtown. It is amazing how much exposure to a culture doing something as simple as using public transportation. I could write pages and pages about my past experiences but this blog is mostly about keeping family and friends updated on my where I am and what I am doing now. So I will fast forward a few years, past another trip to Costa Rica, and to the present.
Since my first adventures with my brother, I have upgraded my travel partner (no offense Chase) to my beautiful girlfriend, Stacey. She too has been bitten by the travel bug after trips that include New York, Greece, and Spain and I am blessed by the Wanderlust gods' that she is willing to put up with me and join me in our adventures of a lifetime. So throughout this blog you will be reading about our stories and experiences from Orlando, Florida to Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and beyond.
