Queenstown Adventures
Since the last post, both Stacey and I have landed some awesome jobs that enable to really enjoy Queenstown. I am working concierge at the Crowne Plaza, while Stacey is working for one of the local jet-boating companies called K-Jet. Both of our jobs allow us to go on most of the adventure tours around Queenstown for free and we have taken full advantage of the opportunities that we come across. I have been able to experience two different World Heritage Sites called Doubtful Sound and Milford Sound. They are both extremely beautiful fjords along the western side of the south island filled with water from the Tasman Sea. I had the chance to do what is called a Fly-Cruise-Heli into Milford Sound; I was flown from the Queenstown airport on a 12-seater plane followed by a two hour boat cruise to get up close and personal with the many dolphin and waterfalls that call the fjord home. After the cruise, I was flown by helicopter back to the Queenstown Airport with an alpine landing on the highest glacier in New Zealand. This trip was by far one of the most scenic and beautiful tours I have ever done.
In addition to those incredible tours, Stacey and I have been able to enjoy a jet-boat ride, some paragliding, and, our favorite so far, a sunrise hot air balloon ride high above the Remarkables and Coronet Peak ski areas.
Of course, we have also been taking full advantage of the two nearby skiing mountains going up every chance we get. This winter has been one of the best in 30 years, so I've had the chance to experience some awesome powder days and even a few days hitting the terrain park.
The adventures are far from over, as we plan on spending another 8 months in this beautiful country and this coming Tuesday we are signed up for three different bungy jumps to get a little adrenaline pump in the middle of Winter in July!
